Portfolio Lighting For A Beautiful Home

There seems to be some confusion over what Portfolio lighting really is. Cooper Lighting has commercial grade lighting that bears the name Portfolio. Lowe's, on the other hand, has the Portfolio brand of lighting it sells to consumers.

Cooper's lighting is a type of down-lighting. It can be wall sconces that project their light down onto the wall below. It can be recessed lighting or the lights can be mounted on a surface. Portfolio lighting only illuminates objects and areas below it in Cooper's estimation.

The Lowe's Lighting Line

Lowe's Portfolio lighting is quite a different story. Their lighting encompasses the full range of lighting. They offer lights that shine down, lights that shine upwards, and outdoor lighting of all kinds.

One example of Lowe's lighting is a 12-bulb crystal chandelier. It is one of the most expensive single light fixtures they carry. A chandelier using incandescent lighting is not exactly energy efficient. However, it does look beautiful and lends a warm, appetizing color to the food below.

Table Lighting

Table lamps can add whimsy to a room even as it lights it up. Lighting choices include a lamp shaped like an airplane, a cage lamp, and a monkey lamp which shows a monkey - what else - sitting under a palm tree. Table lamps will not generally give adequate light for a large room. What they will do is brighten up a small area.

This brand offers wall sconces; however, many of them project their light upwards. There are sconces that are encircled in bronze leaves and vines. There are more modern-looking wall sconces that are not especially decorative for a home. They might be better for an office or garage.

Pendant lighting is becoming very popular. Lowe's Portfolio lighting has pendant lights with one to three lights in them. Some have a bar across the bottom with two or three pendants attached. Some are very small, but most all of them are ornate.

Floor lamps are a good option for those living in apartments who cannot add permanent lighting to their homes. Floor lamps light up a larger area than most table lamps, yet you do not have to use up precious table space for them.

Floor lamps come in a variety of finishes, including chrome, brass, bronze, and others. Some have a soft shade while others have a glass bowl shade. Others are tree lamps with several metal shades.

Lowe's also makes outdoor lights a part of its Portfolio lighting brand. They even have floor lamps and table lamps made to be used outdoors. They have tiki lanterns that can be used to light up any dark area of your yard. There are also security lights, garden lights, and walkway lights.
