Designing With A Monorail Track Lighting System

When you are looking at monorail lighting systems you might find the job a little confusing.  There is a variety of these types of lighting systems on the market and you will have plenty to choose from.  If you take the time to look at all of the systems and what they will do in your home, choosing one won't be nearly as overwhelming.

This type of lighting is a great alternative the the standard type of track lighting that you are probably used to seeing.  It is able to be bent into whatever shape your design in your room requires. 

When you choose a kit to install your monorail lighting system you will find that there are four components to the system.  You will have to get a transformer to install one of these systems in your home. They are a low voltage system and this is the reason for the transformer.  You can get them in a surface mount type or you can find one that is a remote transformer. 

There is a difference between these two different types of transformers.  The remote type can actually be placed in a location so that it is not visible by anyone who is looking at the decor in your room.  It will have to be installed twelve feet from the monorail system. 

The way that the monorail system is powered is through a small canopy and power feed.  When you are just replacing the current lighting you will only have to use a surface transformer.

There is a way that you can find out how much wattage you will need for your transformer.  All you have to do is add up the requirements of all the lights that you will be using and find a transformer that will accommodate it. 

It will be possible to add more fixtures to your system if you use a lower wattage bulb in your lighting.  You are also able to use different wattages in your system so that you can accomodate different styles and types of light in your room.  The one thing that you do not want to do, however, is to go over the amount of watts that your transformer can handle.

You will also be able to change the lighting vertically and horizontally so that you can create the design that you want with your lights. 

The monorail lighting system is one that will allow you to do a number of things that can enhance the decor of your room.  It is also possible to configure the lighting by bending the monorail track with a nice clean edge to it.  They are usually available in a variety of finishes like chrome, nickel, gold and bronze. 

There is a limit to the advantages of this type of lighting.  It is a low voltage lighting system so you will need to add transformers to be able to use it properly.

There is a limit to the amount of wattage that can go through the transformer.  However, you can add a transformer to your lighting system so that you are able to do more.  Some of the newer systems will allow you to use more power so you should look around before you buy one of the kits.

Be careful of how you bend the monorail or you could risk damaging it.  There is a one foot horizontal radius limit on these systems and if you bend it more than that you are going to damage it. 

These systems will allow you to do so much more with the decor of your room than standard lighting will allow you to do.  Take advantage of all the benefits that you will gain with this type of lighting system in your home.
